Troubleshooting Your Air Conditioning Problems? When To Call In The Experts

Posted on

If you have an air conditioning system that just isn't running the way it should be, you likely feel the urge to try to deal with the situation yourself. Most homeowners like to troubleshoot their own home problems and come up with solutions on their own. However, there are some times when you should just defer to the experts and let them take care of your HVAC repairs. Get to know some of the times you should call in the experts. Then, you can be sure you are doing what is best for your home and air conditioning system going forward.

You Can't Find the Source of the Noise

One of the common signs that your air conditioner is not running properly is if it is especially noisy when it is running. Noisy air conditioners can be the result of some part or component in the system being loose or even having come off. It could be clanging around inside the machinery or rattling back and forth in place.

If you cannot find the source of the noise with a general inspection while the air conditioner is running, do not begin to take things apart yourself. Chances are, even if you do find the source of the noise, you will not be able to fix it yourself or you will not be able to put things back together as they were. When it's not an easy, obvious fix, call in HVAC repair services.

Your System Has Weak Air Flow

Another instance in which you should call in HVAC repair services is when your air conditioning system seems to have weak airflow. When not much air is coming out of your vents, your house will begin to feel stuffy and the system will become overworked trying to compensate. Both of these are problems that need to be dealt with right away.

Weak airflow could be a sign of a clog somewhere in the ductwork. It could also be a sign of a lack of power to the fans or other elements of the air conditioning system. The clog, if that is what it is, might be deep in the system and require professional equipment to safely and properly remove. The lack of power could be from a problem with the electrical system of the air conditioner, and unless you are an electrician, you don't want to play around with electricity.

Knowing these instances when you should call in the experts rather than go it alone, you can contact an HVAC repair services contractor right away if these things occur in your home.
